Nevertheless there’s a ton of reference I still need to do before I seriously get started but it’s gone from a project in the back of my mind to one that I’m just about ready to tackle.One thing I am going to start right away is some new NYComix. It’s been so long since I’ve done them and the feedback at CGS 300 as well as follow-up emails after the show from folks asking to see more makes me realize that I need to get new stuff out there. And I’m working a new angle in them that I’m really excited about.Again, getting back to how a deadline really makes me get things done I applied for a table at the 2008 New York City Comic Con… so if I get a table I’ll have another deadline in April to work towards.

The key will be figuring out the non-obvious.[...] What are the political, economic and investment implications of America’s aging–and, if you believe David Brooks, increasingly risk-averse–boomer population?The implication is that we can’t sit around and wait for those who’ve been left behind by this new economy (a large percentage of whom are blue collar boomers and their struggling progeny) to get it. Just as the federal government facilitated the coming of industry (Hamilton), the rise of railroads and agricultural/mechanical colleges (Lincoln), the creation of regulations ensuring safe medicines and de minimis worker safety standards (TR), and the building of interstate highways which have become the arteries of commerce (Ike), so too must the government today encourage and help people grasp the Opportunity Society. Just as the Welfare State assured basic protection of the welfare of its citizens, in return for their allegiance to the state, today the new paradigm should encourage allegiance to the marketplace by encouraging them to grasp the magnificent opportunities literally available at their fingertips.
